Warning: The following contains possible spoilers for season six of HBO's "Game of Thrones."

Normally, fan-favorite characters from television shows develop a loyal following because they are witty and entertaining or noble and good-hearted. Rarely do cold-blooded murderers become deeply ingrained into the audience's hearts and minds. But that was the case for Rory McCann's Sandor Clegane on HBO's hit series "Game of Thrones."

It's true that The Hound was a murderer who did some awful things in his life. But through fantastic character development and a careful inspection of the character, "Thrones" revealed Clegane to be more of a damaged soul rather than a through-and-through bad guy. He was a product of his abusive and dysfunctional upbringing, and despite his sins he did possess good in him. Arya saw it despite her protests to the opposite, and the two formed a unique bond as a result.

The last we saw of Clegane, he had just lost a brutal fight to Brienne and was left for dead after a nasty fall. But perhaps he has yet to meet his end.

"I've heard from a source whom I trust, who has provided us reliable information going back several years, that Rory McCann was seen recently staying at a hotel in Belfast commonly used by HBO and Game of Thrones cast members during filming," reported the spoiler fan site Watchers on the Wall.

"Currently, McCann has no other projects scheduled, or any other reason to be in Belfast that we're aware of. Book readers have their theories as to how the Hound - or rather, Sando Clegane might return. But it wouldn't be the first time Game of Thrones has diverged from the original story if they choose a different version for the return of Sandor Clegane."

The theories mentioned suggest that Sandor found a modicum of peace living at an isolated monastery, and that The Hound, his metaphorical evil side, had been put to rest. For an in-depth exploration of that theory, check out the video below. If you'd like to suggest your own theory, leave it in the comments section!
