The death of Jon Snow on "Game of Thrones" cost actor Kit Harington his job and it may have cost co-creator David Benioff his marriage. His wife, actress Amanda Peet, threatened to divorce him if the show killed off her favorite character.

Peet revealed she no longer loved her husband during an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on Wedensday night. When Kimmel asked why, she responded with two words.

"Jon Snow," the 43-year-old said. "I said that if you kill him that's it."

Kimmel questioned whether Snow is really dead, but Peet seems convinced.

"I'm in the process of getting divorced. Not kidding," she said with a straight face.

Benioff gave his wife some hope a couple weeks before Snow met his fate in the fifth season finale. The executive producer and his star went out for dinner and Peet asked for a photo of Harington so she could check whether he still had his character's haircut.

When she saw the hair remained the same, it was like her "whole marriage blossomed again," she said. "David got laid... And then two episodes later..."

Peet probably isn't so petty to divorce her husband over a TV death. It was only a few months ago that she was defending the show's treatment of women. But Benioff may be sleeping on the couch for a while.

"Game of Thrones" will return for its sixth season in 2016 on HBO.
