Back in August, it was announced that three sequels would be filmed to James Cameron's hit film "Avatar." Each film will be written by a different screenwriter and be released a year apart through 2018. However, very little was known about the casting other than returning characters. Now rumors are circulating that Cameron would team up with an old friend to play the human villain in the upcoming sequel, Arnold Schwarzenegger.

According to sources from the Latino Review, Schwarzenegger will replace Stephen Lang's character as the human general from the 2009 original film. He will be leading a force against Jake Sully and the reset of the Na'vi. The sequel to the hit film is set to release in 2016.

Director Cameron had previously told MTV News that the sequel will continue the story directly from the first movie. He even hinted that "those nasty humans didn't go away forever."

If these rumors turn out to be true, this will mark the fourth collaboration between the Austrian strongman and James Cameron. The two worked together on past blockbuster hits like Terminator, Terminator 2: Judgement Day and True Lies. Schwarzenegger is currently working on the third installment of Sylvester Stallone's action star packed franchise "The Expendables 3." Schwarzenegger will co-star alongside Jackie Chan, Harrison Ford, Terry Crews, Jason Statham and Stallone himself. In fact, Stallone even hinted at a fist fight between him and Schwarzenegger's character in the next movie. Clearly becoming governor of California and turning 66 years-old has not softened the Austrian actor.
