Seals are known to be friendly and gregarious animals.

Any of the 32 species of web-footed aquatic mammals that live chiefly in cold seas and whose body shape, round at the middle and tapered at the ends, can be classified as seals. Seals are adapted to swift and graceful swimming. There are two types of seals: the earless, or true, seals (family Phocidae); and the eared seals (family Otariidae), according to the Encyclopedia Brittanica. Especially abundant in polar seas, seals are found throughout the world. While some species favor the open ocean, others are known to inhabit coastal waters, spending time on islands, shores, or ice floes.

The friendly nature of seals was made evident to Gary Grayson. While diving off the Isles of Scilly in England, Grayson had the most unusual experience, according to The Dodo.

A group of Atlantic grey seals approached him, one fellow came up close to Grayson and put his flipper on the man's hand asking for a belly rub.

Yes, you read that right. Check out Grayson's YouTube video below if you do not believe us.

In fact, as you can see in the video, the seal seems to show its appreciation for Grayson's efforts by patting his hand!

This is not the only instance when seals have displayed such friendly behavior. Jason Neilus and his friends had a chance to get up close and personal with seal pups at the Farne Islands in the U.K., as you can see in this video, reports Reshareworthy.

Sure proves that dogs aren't the only ones who love a good belly rub.
