Eric Moreland was cut by the Sacramento Kings earlier in the offseason so that his salary did not become guaranteed. After they cut him the Kings said that they wanted to bring him back but Moreland has been garnering interest from other teams as well. Moreland currently has training camp invites from the Kings, the Los Angeles Lakers and the reported front running Detroit Pistons, according to Sham Charania of Real GM.

Moreland is expected to make a decision once he gets the final offers from the three teams but he is strongly considering all three despite the Pistons being the front runners. The Lakers and the Kings would actually present Moreland with the best opportunity to crack an NBA roster as they have open roster spots while the Pistons don't. The Kings have 14 guaranteed contracts while the Lakers have 12 which would leave room for the 23 year old power forward.

It is unknown what kind of money is being offered to Moreland but odds are its going to be for the minimum amount with a lot or fully guaranteed money. The amount of competition for his services might drive these teams to offer Moreland more guaranteed dollars.

Moreland had shoulder surgery this offseason but the former Oregon State Beaver has been impressive in the summer league the past two seasons which has allowed him to continue to get looks. Moreland went unselected in the 2014 NBA Draft but was able to get a three year contract from the Kings and spent all of last year with them and in the D-League.

Moreland only ended up playing in three games for the Kings a season ago for a total of two minutes but his mix of size, strength and athleticism has intrigued these teams. In seven D-League games Moreland averaged 13.7 points and 12.7 rebounds per game so he has the tools to be a double-double guy in the NBA. The 6 foot-10 forward should make his decision soon and then compete for a roster spot in training camp in about a month.
