Atlanta Falcons star wide receiver Julio Jones has agreed to a five-year, $71.250 million contract extension with $47 million guaranteed, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports.

The two sides had been negotiating a new deal for some time though it was said that talks had stalled in recent weeks.

"Julio represents everything I love about football," first-year Falcons head coach Dan Quinn said.

Jones finished third in the NFL last year in receiving yards with 1,593. Overall, he caught 104 passes and six touchdowns. His deal rivals those signed by Dallas' Dez Bryant and Denver's Demaryius Thomas earlier this offseason, despite Jones' injury history. The fifth year pro has missed 15 games in his career due to injury.

Atlanta must believe he'll stay as healthy as they lock up quarterback Matt Ryan's top target for the long-term.
