Bryan Cranston will star alongside James Franco in in the 21 Laps and 20th Century Fox comedy "Why Him?"

John Hamburg, whose credits include "I Love You, Man" and "Meet the Fockers," will helm the film and also team up with Ian Helfer to write the script. Shawn Levy's 21 Laps and Ben Stiller's Red Hour are producing the project, which will be overseen by Dan Levine, 21 Laps president, and Fox's Jeremy Kramer. Production will start in Los Angeles early next year, according to Variety.

The plot of the film is as follows: "a Midwestern dad travels with his family to visit his daughter at college, and soon finds himself in a battle for her affections with her new, brash tech billionaire boyfriend," Deadline reported.

This won't be the first time Cranston and Franco have worked together. The two are currently collaborating on "In Dubious Battle," a film based on the novel of the same name by John Steinbeck. Franco is directing and producing the project and is also starring in it as Mac McLeod while Cranston plays Xerife.

Cranston, who wowed the world as teacher-turned-drug dealer Walter White in AMC's hit show "Breaking Bad," will next be seen in "Trumbo," which is slated to hit theatres on Nov. 6.
