Sony Mobile's widely anticipated Xperia Z5 flagship will be unveiled next Wednesday at Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA) in Berlin. However, one of company's social media channels, Sony Georgia's Facebook page, unwittingly published press images early on Friday that were scheduled to be handed out during the launch.

The leak shows three possible devices: the Z5, Z5 Compact and Z5 Premium. It also provided detailed specifications for each handsets, including a 4K ultra-HD display for the Premium variant, which would – in effect – become the world's first smartphone to pack such resolution. The LG G4, which holds the highest pixel density in smartphone display today, has 538ppi.

If the post is legitimate, the Z5 Compact will sport a 4.6-inch 720P display while the Z5 flagship will come in 5.2 Full HD screen.

The released images also match earlier leaks, particularly the 23MP camera with a six-lense system, in a report by Xperia Blog. They also show the new design for each models. The phones will also allegedly sport fingerprint sensors and one or two of the devices will have the scanner on ithe side.

Sony has vehemently denied that the Facebook page is officially maintained by its Georgian subsidiary, according to the International Business Times. The page has also since been taken down. A Twitter user, however, managed to take a screenshot of the leak, which was already translated from the Georgian language.

Based from the photographs, Sony's new devices did not depart from the design philosophy that characterized its earlier devices. They are minimalistic, rectangular slabs that feature a combination of metal and glass. Although, Sony cannot rival Samsung or Apple in terms of market share, its design, which implies an understated elegance, has earned it a cult following over the years.

After the leak, enthusiasts are now eagerly awaiting to test the devices, especially how the Premium model will perform with its unbelievably high resolution.
