General Mills announced Wednesday that it is recalling a "limited quantity" of Cascadian Farms green beans because of possible Listeria contamination.

"The recall is being issued as a precaution after one package of finished product tested positive for the presence of Listeria monocytogenes," General Mills said in a press release. No related illnesses have been reported because of the product, according to the statement.

General Mills' voluntary recall of Cascadian Farms green beans was issued only for products packed in 2014, particularly 10-ounce packages of the frozen green beans with "Better If Used By" labels "10APR2016" and "11APR2016."

The company is urging consumers to dispose of such products, which have been distributed nationwide.

Listeriosis is an infection caused by the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes. Symptoms include diarrhea, fever, muscle aches, stiff neck, headache, loss of balance, confusion and convulsions. Pregnant women, newborns, older adults and adults with weakened immune systems are especially at risk for the infection, but others may also be infected, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

General Mills' announcement follows four months after Blue Bell Creameries issued a nationwide recall of its products because of Listeria contamination and closed all of its plants for cleaning and upgrading.

The Cascadian Farms green beans is one of a string of product recalls announced by different companies over the last several days. Kraft Heinz recalled Oscar Mayer turkey bacon on Tuesday because of illnesses associated with product consumption, and Bimbo Bakeries recalled 48,000 packages of breads distributed in 11 states on Wednesday because they may contain broken glass.
