Kroger issued a recall of four of its branded spices after the Food and Drug Administration found them positive for Salmonella contamination. The FDA reportedly found traces of Salmonella in a sample of Kroger Garlic Powder from a store in North Augusta, S.C., THV 11 reported.

The retailer announced on its website that it is recalling the following products: Kroger Coarse Ground Black Pepper 17.1 oz., Kroger Garlic Powder 24.7 oz., Kroger Ground Cinnamon 18.3 oz. and Kroger Bac'n Buds 12 oz.

Kroger said the products "may be contaminated with Salmonella and, if eaten, could result in severe illness to those individuals who may consume [them]."

"We are dedicated to alerting our customers to unsafe, hazardous or defective products - and take this responsibility very seriously," the retailer posted on its website.

The products are being recalled from stores in 31 states where Kroger operates, which are enumerated on its website. They are also being pulled out from the following stores: Kroger, Food 4 Less, Gerbes, Jay C, Ralphs, Dillons, Fry's, City Market, Smith's, Fred Meyer, Baker's, King Scoopers, Ruler Foods, City Market, Pay Less, Scott's, Owen's and Foods Co., according to Refinery 29.

Those who bought the recalled products are advised not to use them. The products may be returned at the store for a refund.

No deaths associated with the Salmonella contaminated products have been reported, according to Refinery 29.
