Indrani Mukerjea, wife of TV tycoon Peter Mukerjea, has been arrested by Indian police and sent to police custody in connection with the alleged murder of her daughter Sheena Bora in 2012.

Police in Mumbai said on Tuesday that Indrani and her driver were held in connection with alleged murder of Indrani's sister Sheena Bora. However, in dramatic twist of event, Indrani confessed that Sheena was her daughter from her first marriage and not her sister, according to The Telegraph. 

Sheena's dead body was found by Mumbai police in Raigad, nearly 70 miles from Mumbai, in 2012. She was 24 at the time of her murder.

Indrani has been charged with murdering Sheena and disposing her body. She allegedly killed her daughter because she disliked Sheena's relationship with her stepson Rahul Mukherea.

Peter Mukherjea, former CEO of Star India, said that he was in shock and was unaware that Sheena was Indrani's daughter.

"I always believed my wife Indrani who had told me that Sheena was her daughter. I had no reasons to doubt her because she told me Sheena was in US for studies," said Peter Mukherjea, according to ABP Live.

Sheena's brother Mikhail Bora also confirmed that both he and Sheena are Indrani's children.

"My sister was killed, I have no doubt about that, I had no clue when Sheena was dead, whenever I checked, Indrani always claimed Sheena is abroad and busy with her studies," Bora said, according to IBN CNN.
