Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer's efforts are finally paying off as the company has surpassed 800 million active monthly users, a 20 percent increase since she joined the web company in July last year.

The once-shaky company is getting steadier, courtesy Marissa Mayer's untiring efforts to bring Yahoo to the top of the chart. At the TechCrunch Disrupt conference in San Francisco Wednesday, Yahoo Chief Executive Officer Mayer said that the company  surpassed 800 million active monthly users, excluding the users from Tumblr, the popular micro blogging platform Yahoo bought for $1.1 billion earlier this year.

The company has grown 20 percent since Mayer joined as the CEO of the company this has been mostly because of the rapid growth in mobile users. The company claims 350 million monthly active mobile users, according to TechCrunch.

Mayer's efforts showed surprising results in July when the site attracted more U.S. visitors than Google, the first time in more than two years. Despite her impressive efforts, the company has failed to attract advertisers, who continue to invest in Google and Facebook for their product marketing.

Mayer predicts that in another "three or more years," the company will reach its aimed success. Yahoo has acquired at least 19 companies since last year, including their biggest deal, Tumblr, along with mobile-application makers Stamped Inc., Jybe Inc. and Summly, the news-reading app created by Nick D'Aloisio.

Mayers also noted in her interview that the company's long-time strengths like mail, finance, sports and news are the key features that help in increasing mobile users as people benefit a lot from these features through their phones.
