Warning: The following contains possible spoilers for "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice."

Superman and Lex Luthor are not what you would call friends. For decades, the two have been at odds with one another, and that relationship will continue in Zack Snyder's upcoming "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice."

Jesse Eisenberg will portray the iconic villain in his first DC Extended Universe appearance. While fans have a broad sense of why Luthor hates the last son of Krypton, it is still unknown what exactly he is going to do about it. But now a recent report indicates that Luthor's dastardly deeds involve hurting someone close to Superman.

Heroic Hollywood is claiming that in order to rattle the Man of Steel in "Dawn of Justice," Luthor will kidnap his earth mother Martha Kent (Diane Lane). If true, it would mean that Luthor has unearthed the alien's secret identity.

Clark, if you'll remember, is especially protective of his mother. The rubble that was once Smallville can attest to that after General Zod (Michael Shannon, who is likely playing Doomsday in "Dawn of Justice") threatened her in "Man of Steel." Needless to say, he'll be especially ticked off after a full-fledged kidnapping.

It is unknown how or why Martha is kidnapped, but based on what we know of Lex Luthor, it's probable that he wants to trade her life for something valuable. Could this be why we see Superman angrily kneeling at Luthor's feet in the trailer?

This is still just an unconfirmed rumor at this point. But it would fit in with Luthor's existing character and the brief glimspes we've seen of him in "Dawn of Justice." Whether or not this heinous act comes to fruition remains to be seen.

We'll find out when "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" debuts on March 25, 2016.
