Bertha the rabbit lost her ability to walk due to an injury. Since she could no longer use her back legs, the vet suggested to just let her rest. But the owner of the rabbit didn't think it was a good idea. The 4-year-old rabbit has been with Melani James since birth and she didn't want Bertha's life to end because she knew there was still hope.

"When the vet said the nicest thing to do would be to put her down, she still had so much life," James said, according to the South West News Service. "I've actually seen dogs in wheelchairs and I thought 'if it works for a dog, then why not a rabbit?'"

James bought a small dog wheelchair, modified it to fit Bertha, and it worked really well for the rabbit. With the wheelchair, the rabbit is zooming around just like before. She rolls through the garden and is also happy to groom herself, The Dodo reported.

The vet and James are both amazed of Bertha's improvement. They even hope that she will eventually walk again without the aid of the wheel chair since her muscles appear to be strengthening.

"Hopefully, within the not-too-distant future, she will regain mobility herself," James said. "The vet and myself can't believe how well the chair's actually working."
