The Originals Spoilers: Klaus' Vendetta Against Marcel [WATCH]; An Important Use of Flashbacks

The CW YouTube page posted a Marcel Preview for "The Originals" recently, outlining the rivalry between Klaus and his former protégé.

In the video Klaus (Joseph Morgan) is narrating why he has a bit of a problem with Marcel (Charles Michael Davis). How he trained Marcel and has returned to New Orleans to find him Marcel is now in control. How his student has obtained what Klaus worked so hard for. And, most importantly, how he wants it all back.

In the pilot, it was made pretty obvious that Klaus and Marcel would be competing for pretty much everything—the town, the safety of Klaus’s child, and even the affection of the unsuspecting and beautiful Camille (Leah Pipes).

Fans really didn’t get much insight into Klaus’ past in New Orleans during “The Vampire Diaries.” However, during a recent interview with EOnline, Morgan said that flashbacks will be major part of the inaugural season for “The Originals.”

"I've read the first two scripts and I am just so excited. They both feature elements of flashback," Morgan said in a previous interview with the website. "They're both really on a larger scale. This is a war we're building toward.

We can assume the war he’s discussing is between Klaus and Marcel. Hopefully, the flashbacks answer a couple questions for us—How was Marcel as a protégé? How did Klaus leave New Orleans? How did Marcel rise to power?

It would be much appreciated if we didn’t have to wait too long to get answers to these questions.

“The Originals” airs Thursday, Oct. 3 at 9/8c on The CW.
