Norman Oosterbroek was the bodyguard for some of music's biggest stars, including Rihanna, Jay Z, Beyoncé and Lady GaGa. The 43-year old died this week after being tasered by police during a home invasion in what is believed to be a drug-related incident, E! News reports.

Authorities in Miami are investigating the altercation between Oosterbroek and police, that occurred after a woman was confronted by the naked former bodyguard inside her home and then called the police to report the intrusion.

Oosterbroek became aggressive with the officers who arrived on the scene, NBC Miami reports, and swallowed an unknown substance during the increasingly violent altercation. Authorities believe it may have been an illicit substance.

"It's possible that he may have been under some type of a narcotics. Again, he was observed swallowing, ingesting some kind of substance, unknown substance that is," Miami-Dade Police spokesman Det. Javier Baez told NBC Miami.

The officers asked Oosterbroek to stop and tried to take him into custody, and tasered him in an attempt to subdue him. Oosterbroek was then taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.

Miami-Dade Police spokesman Detective Javier Baez told the Miami News Times on Wednesday that authorities were still awaiting toxicology tests.

Oosterbroek's friends and supporters were shocked to learn of his passing, and took to Twitter to express their condolences.
