"American Idol" star Constantine Maroulis was arrested for domestic violence against the mother of his child, Angel Reed. The singer allegedly kicked Reed in the groin, reported TMZ. Law enforcement officers told TMZ that Reed called 911 from their home in Wyckoff, N.J., and said that Maroulis threw her to the ground and kicked her.

Cops responded to the call, arrested Maroulis and immediately took him to jail where he was quickly bailed out. While he was arrested and booked, Maroulis maintained his innocence. His representative denied the claim that Maroulis kicked Reed, his girlfriend of six years and mother to their 4-year-old daughter. The rep said that Reed was the one who attacked Maroulis and left a bruise and a cut on his right thigh, according to the New York Daily News. "He consequently left their home to protect himself and to diffuse the situation. Sometime later the local police came and arrested him for domestic abuse," the rep said.

Maroulis finished in sixth place on "American Idol" in 2005. He went on to star on Broadway in "Rock of Ages" and "Jekyll and Hyde," according to Billboard. Maroulis and Reed began dating in 2009, a year after both started working on the classic rock Broadway musical.
