S.H.I.E.L.D. may need to keep a close eye on their Inhuman guest Lincoln Campbell, who was left homeless following the battle between Coulson's team and his fellow Inhumans. The super powered Lincoln will struggle with his identity as "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." returns for its third season and his uncertainly could pose a threat for his new friends.

Luke Mitchell, who plays the Inhuman, described Lincoln's relationship with S.H.I.E.L.D. as "rocky" to start as both sides try to figure each other out.

"I think he's in a gray area," Mitchell told reporters at the Television Critics Association summer press tour (via ComicBookResources.com). "Don't take this the wrong way, but I think he's dangerous in the sense that they don't know whether they can trust him, and I don't think he knows what to trust."

The Australian native returns to "S.H.I.E.L.D." as a series regular this season after being introduced last season when he helped Skye/Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet) take control of her powers at the Inhumans' compound, Afterlife. He then sided with S.H.I.E.L.D. in their final battle against the other powered persons led by Skye's mother, Jiaying.

Not much is known about Lincoln at this point except that he grew up in Cincinnati and attended med school. When he dropped out of school, he was brought to Afterlife and underwent Terrigensis, which gave him the ability of electricity manipulation.

"I'd love for there to be some backstory or some flashback episodes," Mitchell said. "I do know that there will be more information coming out about Lincoln, either not present or in the future - hopefully, the past."

Lincoln and Skye may also have a romantic spark kindling between them, but it looks like the two will enjoy more of a slow burn if they choose to take their relationship any further.

"I think that connection is going to remain throughout season three. But it's going to be interesting to see how that is handled. I think it's going to be slightly different points of view from both characters," Mitchell said.

"Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." will return on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 9 p.m. on ABC.
