In "Quick and Painless," the upcoming episode of FX's sci-fi horror "The Strain," Dr. Ephraim "Eph" Goodweather (Corey Stoll) attempts to take his newfound anti-vampire virus to Washington, D.C to get approved for mass production. But there's one little catch- Eph is a wanted fugitive. Below is a first look at Corey Stoll as an incognito Eph.

Eph, the head of the CDC Canary team in New York City, alters his appearance by shaving his head and adding a little 5 o'clock shadow (and it isn't much of a change from Stoll's regular look). He hopes it will help throw off authorities as he hops a train to D.C. to present his imperfect virus, according to TV Geek Talk. But in the first look above, it looks like he runs into a little problem when his disguise doesn't work as planned.

In the last episode, Eph and his partner, Dr. Nora Martinez (played by Mia Maestro), administer their test virus to a lab rat, as previously reported by Entertainment Weekly. Their virus is an anti-vampire pathogen, and they let the lab rat loose on the city to see how well the virus spreads. They find out that it effectively spread the virus to other strigoi (vampires) and kills them off quickly. Now that they know their virus works, they hope to mass-produce it in order to infect the other strigoi that are plaguing the city and control the rise of the strigoi population.
