University of Minnesota athletics director Norwood Teague has reportedly resigned and the university has accepted the resignation. This news comes amid sexual assault allegations levied against him by two non-student university employees, according to Brian Bennett of ESPN.  Minnesota president Erik Kaler is expected to have a press conference at 12:15 p.m. Friday to address the situation.

Teague had been the AD at Minnesota since 2012 when he replaced Joel Maturi. Before becoming the athletic director at Minnesota he held the same position at Virginia Commonwealth University. The Raleigh, N.C., native attended University of North Carolina, where he was also associate AD for five years.

Teague admitted to having an alcohol problem and said that's the root of all of these problems. "I had too much to drink and sent inappropriate texts. I will be seeking help for my alcohol use, I'm embarrassed and I apologize to everyone involved," said Norwood.

Teague's legacy in his short tenure at the school might be the fact that he supported head football coach Jerry Kill as he was going through a tough time and dealing with seizures. Teague is also responsible for the hiring of women's basketball coach Marlene Stollings and men's basketball coach Richard Pitino, who has already become a very good coach at the university.

Teague went on to take responsibility for his actions and apologize to Minnesota while saying this doesn't show who he truly is as a person, according to TwinCities.com.

"This neither reflects my true character, or the character of this great, great university. I've taken immediate steps to get help with my alcohol issues, and I take full responsibility for my actions," said Teague.

With Teague having resigned, Beth Goetz, the university's deputy athletic director and senior women's administrator, was named as the interim AD.
