Malin Hedström, co-founder of Arrowhead Game Studios, announced Thursday that the rebooted classic dungeon crawler "Gauntlet: Slayer Edition" will be available for the PlayStation 4 console on Aug. 11.

"For a number of months now the Gauntlet team has been working tirelessly to mold the game into what we fully envisioned. The key points we have wanted to address are Hero depth, gameplay variation, and overall visuals - and we did this by both adding new features and updating existing ones," Hedström said, according to Geeky Gadgets.

The PS4 version of the game will cost $19.99 and can support local co-op of up to four players.

Players can still choose to be a spell-slinging Wizard, a burly Warrior, an armored Valkyrie or a nimble Elf.

The PS4 version also includes new areas, new enemies, new modes and a new focus on Hero equipment, Forbes reported.

A Warner Bros. spokesperson has clarified that this version's "additional realms" refers to "the leap from the Classic 80s version of the game to this enhanced PS4 edition" instead of an additional realm within the game, according to IGN.
