Director Paul Greengrass has heard the rumors about the prospect of a new Jason Bourne movie starring original Bourne actor Matt Damon. However, he has finally put the rumors that he will be returning to direct to bed.

Speaking to Empire about the ongoing rumors of his involvement in the film, the director said "I've absolutely no idea [where they came from]. I'm not being funny but, no, that's just a figment of someone's imagination."

The director did confess that the idea had been discussed but quickly added that it was "Quite a while ago. We might have a laugh about it, but a serious conversation? Not for a long time."

To finally put the rumors about a fifth Bourne movie, where he would re-team with Bourne Identity, Supremacy and Ultimate actor Matt Damon, the director said "I loved the Bourne movies. I loved making them but it's like anything in life, you've got to move on and do different things."

Previously, Damon has said that he would not be interested in reprising his role as the American-trained super soldier if Greengrass wasn't attached to the project to direct. Now it appears that the entire project won't happen.

However, this isn't to say that the franchise is dead. Quite the contrary, any films staring Damon would have been done in addition to the new lineup of films starring Jeremy Renner as character Aaron Cross. Renner began his role in the franchise last year and his character has carved a nice place for itself in the Bourne universe.

Anthony Peckham was announced as the screenwriter for the upcoming sequel to "The Bourne Legacy" in which Jeremy Renner will again reprise his role as a fellow super spy/soldier in the same vein as Damon's Bourne.

Tell us what you think. Are you disappointed about the rumors being crushed of another Bourne movie with Damon?
