July 31 might be the most famous fictional birthday in modern literature thanks to Harry Potter. The wizard also shares a birthday with his creator, J.K. Rowling, who turned 50 today. Many of the famous cast members and internet users alike took to twitter today to wish the woman behind the wizard a very happy birthday.

Time magazine asked the stars and crew of all eight "Harry Potter" movies to send her birthday greetings.

"The Happiest of Birthdays, Jo. A breeze for the supreme Time-traveler," Alan Rickman, who played Severus Snape in all eight Potter movies, said.

Robbie Coltrane, who played Hagrid, said, jokingly, "You don't look a day over 40. ... Perhaps you could celebrate your half century by writing a hilarious film. Perhaps, starring, I don't know, a large Scottish man."

"To the woman whose imagination has made half the world feel less alone, afraid and in the dark; may the light you continue to shine always bounce back with interest. And at a flattering angle, naturally," said actor Jason Isaacs, who plays Lucius Malfoy.

Rowling was very gracious for all of the birthday messages. The author tweeted her thanks for the kind messages she received about herself and her fictional character Potter. "Thank you so much to everyone wishing Harry and me a happy birthday! I'm having a wonderful time in the sun with family and friends. Xxxxx," the author said.
