There's no hope for "Game Of Thrones" fans after all. During a question-and-answer session at the Television Critics Association summer press tour, HBO Programming President Michael Lombardo talked about the new season of "True Detective," Larry David's return and whether "Game of Thrones" fan favorite Jon Snow is in fact dead.

"In everything I've seen, heard or read, Jon Snow is indeed dead," Lombardo said with a grin, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Lombardo also said he feels that comedian David will make a return to the network, but it's more a question of when than if. He told the Hollywood Reporter that when he saw David before his Broadway run in "Fish in the Dark," he showed Lombardo a notebook that he said contained the next season of "Curb Your Enthusiasm."

"I don't think it's out of [Larry's] system," Lombardo said.  "I think he wants to have something to say."

When confronted with a question about the negative reviews that season two of "True Detective" has received, Lombardo said he's happy with what he's seen so far on the show. The first season was a critical darling, but Lombardo confirmed that the second isn't doing too bad either, at least commercially - 12 million viewers tune in weekly for season two.

"Nic Pizzolatto ['True Detective' creator]  is one of the best writers working in television and motion pictures today," Lombardo said, and offered a hint of what's to come in the season finale. "I think he takes a big swing. I think the show ends with as satisfying an end as any show I've seen."
