The iPhone C, Apple's long-rumored low-cost iPhone 5 model is looking like less of a rumor and more of a reality these days. More leaked photos have surfaced showing the devices packaged and ready to ship out to customers in a variety of different colors and all featuring the John Ive inspired iOS 7.

The company has reportedly been working on the iPhone C as a way to help it get a better foothold in the low-end smartphone market that is currently dominated by Android devices. Apple has previously controlled the low-end market simply by letting its older generation models of phones trickle down and become cheaper over time. However, with the low-end market getting more and more traction and attention in the tech industry, particularly in places like China where low-end phones are highly coveted and where Apple has not been able to get a decent stake in the market, Apple has to make a change. Customers will no longer be content with Apple's left over's. The iPhone C is a plastic backed smartphone that has similar functions to the iPhone 5. It comes in a variety of colors including red, yellow, blue, white and green.

Further evidence of the phone's existence and Apple's plans for it comes from its recent trade-in program. The company is allowing anyone to bring in their old phones to be appraised by an Apple employee who will then give the customer a gift card with credit for the amount the old device was worth. That money can then go to either the new iPhone 5S or the iPhone C. Either way this will make it so that older-generation iPhones are off the streets and money is going into new devices.

Apple is expected to debut both the iPhone 5S and the iPhone C at a press event on Sept. 10. Following that, the phones are expected to hit the market ten days later on Sept. 20. Color will likely play a big role at the press event. The iPhone C's biggest claim to fame so far are its aesthetics. Users can customize the look of their phone simply by choosing to buy it in one of many colors. Meanwhile to showcase that the iPhone 5S is still the company's flagship phone, it is rumored to be offering two more high-quality color options including a gold champagne color and a silver graphite color.
