Police arrested a man on Friday who allegedly shot and murdered 30-year-old Carrie Jean Melvin with a shotgun while she was walking with her boyfriend along Hollywood's famed Sunset Boulevard before fleeing in a black sedan earlier this month, according to CNN.

After weeks of investigative work, Los Angeles police have placed 31-year-old Ezeoma Obioha in custody and set a bail of $1 million.

Obioha was Melvin's business partner and had hired the aspiring actress to do social media marketing work for Obioha's new company, according to Los Angeles Police Department Lt. John Radke, according to LA Times.

A dispute ensued after a check Obiaho had given to Melvin bounced and she threatened him with legal action, said authorities. She did not receive the hundreds of dollars that were owed to her, said police.

Police believed the murder was random at the time. There was no attempted robbery and Melvin's boyfriend, whose name wasn't released, was unharmed, police said, reported Fox News.

"We have been working hard around the clock on this and we didn't want to draw attention to the leads we developed," Lt. John Radke said, according to LA Times. "This was a terrible crime and it is one of those scenes you'll never forget."
