A Florida man led the entire Palm Beach Sheriff's Office on a wild goose chase around town that involved him breaking and entering into several homes.

Authorities revealed that Donald Howard, 43, initially fled after police tried to arrest him for contempt of court and that he said he was "extremely thirsty from recently smoking crack," according to the New York Daily News.

Howard had broken into several homes in the area, including houses that were occupied at the time. One of the homeowners said she found a sweaty T-shirt and three empty Capri Sun drinks. These items were not hers.

Another person revealed that Howard went to his house with jewelry asked if he could drink some water and use his phone. He said no, so Howard fled but left the jewelry behind, according to Palm Beach Post.

After a wild chase that lasted for about two hours, officers were able to apprehend Howard just a few blocks away from where he gave chase. He is set to face charges on burglary and drug possession.
