"Ant-Man" may have won the box office wars this weekend, but its $58 million haul ranked as the second smallest opening weekend for a Marvel Studios movie, sitting just above "The Incredible Hulk" which brought in $55 million during its opening weekend in 2008.

The No. 1 finish gave Marvel its 12th consecutive opening-weekend win. It also grossed another $56.4 million overseas and received high critical marks, earning a 79 percent on Rotten Tomatoes and an audience grade of A at CinemaScore.

Earlier this year, Marvel's "Avengers: Age of Ultron" brought in a whopping $191.27 million in its opening weekend. The studio launched the "Guardians of the Galaxy" franchise to a record-breaking $94.3 million last August.

Paul Rudd will reprise his role as the Ant-Man in "Captain America: Civil War" next year. Marvel has no plans for an "Ant-Man" sequel as of yet.

In its second weekend, "Minions" added another $50.2 million following its impressive opening weekend of $115.7 million. The "Despicable Me" spinoff performed well throughout last week to bring its 10-day total up to $216.7 million.

Amy Schumer premiered her raunchy new film "Trainwreck" to a healthy $30.2 million. The Comedy Central star wrote the screenplay directed by Judd Apatow.

Disney-Pixar's "Inside Out" topped the $300 million mark in its fourth place finish. It's the third-highest grossing film for Pixar behind "Toy Story 3" and "Finding Nemo."

"Jurassic World" rounded out the top five with an additional $11.3 million, bringing its domestic total to $611 million. It has now earned more than $1.5 billion worldwide, passing "Furious 7" and becoming the fourth highest grossing film in history.
