Paul Rudd, 46, took the "Chris Pratt approach" to doing a summer superhero movie. The star of the latest Marvel film, "Ant-Man," looked noticeably more toned thanks to his "insane diet and workout schedule."

"I didn't drink any alcohol [and] I had no carbs" for a year, he told People. Though the intense regimen was "almost kind of impossible to sustain," Rudd revealed that he's still keeping in shape. "I'm still doing all the workouts, I'm still eating pretty well," the actor said.

"I would work out with a trainer; I worked with a guy who was teaching me tumbling, how to do flips, things like that. I was eating a lot of protein and vegetables, and I was eating at very specific times of the day. And I was miserable to be around for about a year," Rudd told Cover Media. "Actually, I enjoyed having the focus. I knew I was going to have to be held accountable, so that made it a little easier," he explained. "But I'd never done anything like that before, to that extreme, and having the majority of my day built around that, instead of making fitness something I tried to work in on the side while I went about my day, was really kind of great."

"Ant-Man," which comes out Friday, also stars Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll and Michael Pena.
