A man from McLoud, Okla. was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Thursday for asphyxiating his stepfather by knocking him out and giving him an "atomic wedgie."

Brad Lee Davis, 35, pleaded guilty to manslaughter in a deal with prosecutors on May after his 58-year-old stepfather Denver Lee St. Clair was found dead in their home in December 2013, according to the New York Daily News.

Davis admitted that he knocked down St. Clair, pulled the elastic band from his underwear and wrapped it around his head and onto his neck.

Bob Wyatt, Davis' attorney, revealed that his client never intended to kill St. Clair, according to Reuters.

Wyatt added that Davis, a former Marine, had only intended to humiliate his stepfather after St. Clair started a fight by insulting his mother.

Davis was originally charged with first-degree murder, according to Oklahoma News. He planned on telling the court that he acted in self-defense, but he eventually pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter.
