Police have arrested an ex-convict connected to a killing spree that left two people dead and three wounded in northern Maine.

The shooter is 35-year-old Anthony Lord, who has a criminal record that includes convictions for domestic assault, criminal threatening and assault, was arrested at his uncle's home in Houlton on Friday and currently faces murder and kidnapping charges. The woman he kidnapped was safe, state police Lt. Sean Hashey said, according to the Associated Press

Investigators questioned Lord late Friday about the motive for the shootings, which left 58-year-old Kevin Tozier and 22-year-old Kyle Hewitt dead. Investigators said Lord knew some of the victims, but they gave no information about possible relationships, Yahoo! News reported.

"We know a lot, but there's a lot of questions to be answered still," Lt. Hashey said.

In addition to the two men slain during the killings, two other men and one woman were treated for gunshot wounds but are expected to survive, police said.

Lord's violent spree started Thursday night with a fire at a barn in Benedicta, which led to a man being beaten and then robbed of his guns and pickup truck in Silver Ridge early Friday.

Police reports indicate that the first shootings occurred at the home of Lord's brother, where windows and doors were shot out but no one was injured.

Lord later returned to the site of the barn fire and the home of Brittany Irish, the 22-year-old woman who he later kindnapped, where he shot Hewitt and her mother, Kim Irish, 55.

Carlton Eddy was shot through the window of his truck in the home's driveway. Later, Tozier and Clayton McCarthy, 54, were shot at a woodlot in Lee, where Lord stole a logging truck after ditching the pickup truck.

Police confirm that Lord and Irish knew each other, but the extent of their relationship is still unknown.

Residents didn't appear to be panicked by the presence of police during the time of the chase and investigation, according to USA Today.

"We're pretty well armed around here," said James Knealand, who works at Lincoln Pulp & Paper and lives near a police checkpoint in Lee.
