When Pink Floyd released its final album last year, it was no surpise that fans clamored for another tour from the iconic British psychedelic band, but guitarist and vocalist David Gilmour at the time said he was keen to move on and release a solo album. That solo album, "Rattle That Lock," will be released on Sept. 18, and he will embark on several tour dates, he revealed via his official website.

The album, Gilmour's first since 2006's "On An Island," will feature 10 tracks with lyrics written primarly by his wife, Polly Samson, a novelity, reports Rolling Stone, which adds that longtime Gilmour collaborator and Roxy Music guitarist Phil Manzanera, who co-produced the album, made contributions.

Gilmour has shared the title track, which you can listen to below. The track "begins with the four notes, created by [sound designer] Michaël Boumendil, which precede announcements at French SNCF railway stations," and Polly's lyrics were inspired by Book II of John Milton's 'Paradise Lost,'" according to Rolling Stone.

"I recorded it on my smart phone at the TGV Aix station where I had spent time with my family on holiday," Gilmour told Le Parisien, according to The Telegraph. "Every time I travel in France by train, which happens quite often on holiday or with my profession, when I hear that little music 'papalala' in the Gare du Nord or Gare de Lyon, it makes me want to sing and dance."

Gilmour will play limited tour dates in 2016, starting with 10 Eurpoean dates, which have sold out, and North American dates which are listed below.
