The Miami Heat were in the forefront of NBA news on Wednesday afternoon until the DeAndre Jordan story erupted and stole the spotlight. The news about the Heat on Wednesday was that they put four of their role players on the trading block and were reportedly looking for not much in return. With that in mind, Miami is clearly looking for other role/bench players in the free agent market. It was reported on Wednesday that Dorell Wright and the Heat have mutual interest, and it is now being reported that Gerald Green has come to an agreement with Miami.

The deal with the Miami Heat is reportedly for the veteran's minimum, which is about $1.5 million, according to Bleacher Report. Green likely could have chosen to go to a different team for more money, but it appears that he wants to be in a winning situation, and Miami should be just that this season.

Miami will be Green's eighth NBA team in just his ninth season in the league. Green was drafted as a 19-year-old out of high school and has never spent more than two seasons with a team at this point in his career. He spent the past two seasons with the Phoenix Suns and was a real spark for them,  mostly off the bench. Green averaged 14 points per game in his two seasons with Phoenix, while also shooting 43 percent from the field and 38 percent from three.

Even though Green has been in the NBA for a while, he is still only 29 and won't turn 30 until January. Green will be a huge help to the Heat off the bench as he could be the second unit's big time scorer. He is a career 37-percent three-point shooter, is ultra-athletic and can finish over anyone.

Green is not the type of player that is going to be able to carry a team on his shoulders day in and day out because he is a very streaky shooter. However, as a role player who is not asked to do too much, when he gets hot, the Heat will be lucky to have him at such a cheap price.
