Momma knows best! It's been about a week since Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner announced they were ending their decade-long marriage and, while some celebrities deal with their divorces by hitting the party scene, Affleck is turning to a familiar shoulder.

A source told People that the "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" actor turned to his mother, Christine, for support following the split from his wife.

"While Jen is turning to her family and friends, the person in Ben's life is his mother," said the source. "She is a constant rock for him. She had remained close to the family as well. She's been there for him through this extremely difficult time. He is really leaning on his mother for support. Ben and his mom have always been very close."

Another source added that Affleck and his three children—9-year-old Violet, 6-year-old Seraphina and 3-year-old Samuel—spent time with his mother in Los Angeles while Garner was busy filming her movie "Nine Lives" in Montreal.

Last week, the couple released a joint statement announcing their decision to divorce after 10 years together and their commitment to their children and to one another.

"After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce," they said. "We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children, whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time. This will be our only comment on this private, family matter. Thank you for understanding."

Affleck and Garner are preparing the necessary paperwork and meetings for the split, according to TMZ. The two will officially file divorce papers when property and custody issues are worked out.

The couple has reportedly been having marital issues for about three years and even considered divorcing earlier. Us Weekly claimed the couple decided to stay together after the birth of their youngest child.

"They were in couple's therapy for years," a source told Us Weekly. "They were going to divorce when Sam was born, but you know how it is—baby comes and solves the issues for a bit, but it's just a Band-Aid. It hasn't been working for ages."

After announcing their split, the couple went to the Bahamas to spend time together with their children.

"They got the kids out of L.A. as soon as school was out," a source told Us Weekly, "[The Bahamas] is a place they've been going to for years that's very private and special for their kids. When either of them have had work commitments they have been leaving to go fulfill them."

Garner and Affleck began dating in 2004 after getting to know each other on the sets of 2001's "Pearl Harbor" and 2003's "Daredevil." In April 2004, they became engaged and were married two months later in a private ceremony in Turks and Caicos.
