Mothers are our first teachers. This statement is true even for animals just like this raccoon mom that taught its little one how to climb a tree.

Teaching needs so much patience, especially when the student isn't attentive and lingers from time to time. In this video, you can see how the mother raccoon taught its baby the proper way of climbing up a tree.

At first, the mother was putting her cub on the tree while pushing her up. When it failed, the mom showed the baby how to do it by climbing the tree herself. But the raccoon was not paying attention despite the struggle of her mom who, modeled the proper climbing technique.

While the baby raccoon couldn't get it at first, it eventually learned to climb in the end as the mom held her on the nape while bringing her to the tree.

Raccoon cubs often join their mothers for outings like this at eight to 10 weeks of age, and they start roaming alone for several nights before returning home by 12 weeks of age, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) said.

The WDFW added that young raccoons in Washington typically stay with their mothers during their first winter before seeking out their own territories early the next spring.
