Court documents released last week suggest investigators think Shayanna Jenkins, the fiancée of Aaron Hernandez, may have hid the weapon used to murder Odin Lloyd.  Police reportedly found a gun used in an unsolved 2012 double homicide, which Hernandez is being investigated for, and a locked safe - could it contain the weapon used to kill Lloyd?

Police arrested Jailene Diaz-Ramos on June 21 in Bristol, Conn., after discovering a .38 caliber Smith and Wesson revolver in the trunk of her car, CBS 3 Springfield reported on Tuesday.  Subsequent ballistic tests positively matched the gun to bullets used in the 2012 double homicide in Boston.

So far, the only known connection between Hernandez and Diaz-Ramos is she was found with a weapon linked to the 2012 double homicide that Hernandez is being investigated for.

Any other link to Hernandez, if any, is unclear at this time - although she is from Bristol, the same hometown as Hernandez.  She also told police the weapon didn't belong to her and that she at least once gave some unidentified friends, who she said were football players, a ride to work.

In addition to the firearm, police also found a locked safe.

Police are in the process of obtaining a warrant to search the safe, so the contents remain unknown.  If a connection is found between Hernandez and Diaz-Ramos, it's possible the safe could contain the weapon used to kill Lloyd.

Carlos Ortiz, a suspect charged in connection with Lloyd's death, reportedly told investigators that Hernandez hid at least one weapon in a box in the ex-NFL star's basement after returning home shortly after Lloyd's death.

The box, or safe, is believed by investigators to possibly be the "rigid object" that video footage shows Jenkins carrying from her basement to her car on June 18, according to the Hartford Courant.  Video then shows Jenkins placing the trash bag into the trunk of her car and driving away.  When she returns, video shows the trash bag no longer in the trunk.

It's conjecture at this point, but if a connection is discovered between Hernandez and Diaz-Ramos, it's possible authorities could find the murder weapon in the safe.

Diaz-Ramos was released on $1,000 bail.  She is due in court on Oct. 25.

Jenkins has not been ruled a suspect, and Hernandez pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and five gun-related charges in the homicide of Lloyd.  He's currently being held without bail while awaiting trial.
