The famous Florida manatee named Snooty has been recognized by the Guinness World Records as the "World's Oldest Manatee in Captivity", the South Florida Museum announced.

The oldest wild Florida manatee was 59-years-old. Snooty is turning 67 on July 21, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reported. Snooty was born in 1948 and was never released to the wild.

He is also known as the only manatee at the Parker Manatee Aquarium that has regular interaction with humans and is even said to remember voices of keepers and trainers.

Snooty shares his aquarium with young, orphaned or injured wild manatees that are being cared for by museum staff as part of the Manatee Rescue and Rehabilitation partnership, The Bradenton Herald reported.

The birthday of Snooty is a popular event at the South Florida Museum where he is given a cake made of vegetables and fruits while the visitors all sing Happy Birthday for him.
