Former “NYPD Blue” actor James McDaniel is coming to Fox’s “The Following” according to a TVGuide.com.

McDaniel, who played the Lt. Arthur Fancy on the cop drama, will portray FBI Agent Ken Phillips. Phillips is the leader of New York City Task Force. Phillips is expected to take the role of Agent Deb Parker (Annie Parisse) who died at the end of Season 1. McDaniel also has recurring role as Jean Baptiste in the Netflix Original Series "Orange is the New Black." He also played Sgt. Jesse Longford in ABC's "Detroit 1-8-7."

This is the show’s latest addition in the line of new cast members that have been added. Last week TVLine.com reported Connie Nielsen was coming to the show as a new love interest for Ryan Hardy (Kevin Bacon). Nielsen is mostly known for her roles as Meredith Kane on Starz’s “Boss” and Lucilla on “Gladiator.”

Also coming to the show is “Dexter” star Sam Underwood.

Underwood plays “Zach Hamilton”—the young protégé of Dexter—on the Showtime drama. In “The Following” he will play a similar role as Luke, a possible follower of Joe Carroll (James Purefoy).

During a “The Following” Comic-con interview with TVLine founder Michael Ausiello show creator Kevin Williamson revealed the show would go in a slightly different direction this season. Unlike the last season, there won’t be as much focus on the FBI and the chase.

It will also be interesting to see how Emma (Valorie Curry) progresses—after the “death” of her love Joe Carroll (James Purefoy) and killing her ex-boyfriend Jacob (Nico Tortorella)—and how Mike (Shawn Ashmore) is getting along after the traumatic season one he experienced.

The second season of “The Following is expected to premiere this fall on FOX.
