Judy Shalom Nir-Mozes, the wife of Israeli Interior Minister Silvan Shalom, was criticized on social media for an offensive joke she posted about U.S. President Barack Obama from her Twitter account, reported CNN.
"Do u know what Obama coffee is? Black and weak," Mozes wrote on the social networking platform.
Mozes, who has about 75,000 Twitter followers, deleted the tweet moments after she posted it, but the damage had already been done. The joke incited an angry response from Twitter users who accused her of being "explicitly racist," according to the Times of Israel.
I apologize, that was a stupid joke somebody told me.

Mozes posted a series of apologies shortly thereafter. "I apologize, that was a stupid joke somebody told me," she tweeted. Later, she also apologized to the U.S. president directly, writing, "President Obama I shouldn't have written the inappropriate joke I heard. I like people no matter about their race and religion," according to The Huffington Post.

The controversy has taken place at a time when relations between Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are strained, mostly over the upcoming nuclear deal with Iran.
Sorry if I caused any offence to anyone. I hope I will stay married when my husband will land and hear what I did.
