Obama's plan, according to The New York Times, is to act unilaterally to offer legal documents to as many as 5 million immigrant currently in the country illegally. And while his plan doesn't currently call for a formal, lasting immigration status or a pathway to citizenship, it will allow millions to live and work legally in the U.S. - many will even receive social security numbers.
