Cat lovers from all over united together in Los Angeles during the weekend at the first-ever CatCon to celebrate felines.

The event was filled with "punny" t-shirts, amazing cat-expert speakers, an extensive line of cat furniture, cat nip that was marketed as "weed for cats" and much more.

On top of the fun, wacky things that can only be appreciated by a true cat lover, the event also helped raise awareness for cat adoptions.

There were a lot more humans in attendance at the event than felines (although a lot of humans did sport "purr-fectly" fashionable cat ear headbands). Most of the felines at the event were adoptable cats from animal welfare organization Best Friends LA.

Out of the 40 cats at CatCon 34 were adopted, reported The Guardian. The wait to just see the cats was nearly a half-hour for most of the day.

"My goal is to break down the stereotype of the weird cat person," Susan Michals, a cable television producer who organized CatCon in her spare time, told New York Times. "There is a whole world of cat lovers out there. We're not all a bunch of 'Grey Gardens' Miss Havishams."
