An Amtrak train headed to Chicago from Texas carrying 203 passengers slammed into a truck at an intersection near Wilmington, Ill., on Friday. No injuries or casualties have been reported, according to Reuters.

The Texas Eagle, also referred to as Train No. 22 and which originated in San Antonio, collided with the semitrailer approximately 50 miles south of Chicago around 4 p.m., according to Amtrak representative Craig Schulz.

Schulz stated that there were no serious injuries to any of the passengers or crew on board, and it wasn't immediately known if the truck driver was hurt in the incident.

The trailer, reportedly carrying 70,000 pounds of bacon, overturned because of the impact of the collision, strewing its contents along the tracks, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The accident takes place amid increasing concern over the safety of the U.S. rail system. Less than a month ago, an Amtrak train derailed in Philadelphia, claiming more than eight lives and injuring over 200 people.

In another incident, which took place in February, a Metro-North commuter train crashed into an SUV at an intersection in New York, leaving seven people dead and wounding several others.

The Texas Eagle will be halted in Wilmington as authorities investigate the accident, said Schulz.
