"Dance Mom's" Abby Lee Miller revealed her secret to dropping from a size 24 to 16 - and it has nothing to do with diet and exercise.

"There's no diet, there's no exercise, there's no this, there's no that," Miller explained to People. In fact, she joked that dieting and hitting the gym probably would have been an easier way to shed the pounds.

Miller told the magazine that the weight loss was due to a series of unfortunate circumstances, which begun with her mom being hospitalized while battling colon cancer. Miller's mom died in February 2014.

"When you're in and out of the hospital, that hospital food just makes you sick," Miller told People. "I think it was a little bit mental with me."

After that Miller said she went back to a hot set for "Dance Moms" where no one was eating a lot because of the excessive heat.

Last summer - to top it off - Miller found herself running out of her diabeties prescription pills while on set in Australia.

"I had to get a prescription refilled - lo and behold, there's something different about that prescription in Australia," Miller told People. "I would take this medicine and within an hour, I was vomiting like I was in fourth grade and had the flu or like I had food poisoning. It was awful. After I would throw up, I couldn't even look at food for the rest of the day."

While she didn't intend to lose the weight when she did, she said she is happy that she is getting such positive feedback about her appearance - especially from her co-stars on "Dance Moms."

"Dance Moms" returns to Lifetime June 9.
