A 13-year-old girl from Tacoma, Wash. jumped off a highway overpass, killing herself after her father uploaded a video of himself cutting chunks of her hair as punishment for an unknown offence on social media.

Izabel Laxamana, fondly known as "Izzy," jumped or fell from the South 48th Street overpass over Interstate 5, Tacoma police reported Friday afternoon, according to The News Tribune.

She was then admitted to a Seattle hospital where she succumbed to her injuries on Saturday, Inquistr reported. The death has been ruled as a suicide by authorities.

The 15-second video was uploaded to social media a couple of days before her death, showing Izzy standing in a room next to a pile of hair, according to Opposing Views.

The man filming her (later identified as her father) aims the camera at her and says "The consequences of getting messed up? Man, you lost all that beautiful hair. Was it worth it?"

Izzy replies, "No."

The man then asks, "How many times did I warn you?" to which Izzy responds, "Twice."

The man replies with, "okay," as if he was trying to prove a point, and then the video ends.

Many concerned parents have since expressed their anger at the public humiliation of the young girl. One of the parents, assisting in the teen's science class, expressed how she had seen Izzy crying moments after the video was uploaded and says she would have done something to prevent the suicide had she known Izzy would take such an extreme step.

There are rumors going around the high school saying that the shaming video was not the only punishment the girl suffered. A parent of one of Izabel's "close friend" said that the father had also "cut her undergarments" and "destroyed her clothing." Others stated that Izzy's father constantly abused her but his ill treatment towards her was never addressed.
