An Amber Alert was released in Idaho on Friday for murder and kidnapping suspect James Lee DiMaggio and his blue Nissan.

California, Oregon, Nevada and Washington have issued alerts, but authorities have yet to apprehend the alleged murder.  DiMaggio is wanted in connection to the suspected murder of Christina Anderson, the children's mother.

"Dozens of tips have poured in from Oregon and Washington, but none of the reported sightings has panned out," homicide Lt. Glenn Giannantonio said, according to USA Today.

Earlier reports on Friday stated authorities believe DiMaggio, 40, had abandoned his vehicle, allegedly armed with explosives.  Officials urge people to not approach the car if they see it, and to contact authorities immediately.

Officials in Canada and Mexico are also looking for the 2013 blue, four-door Nissan Versa with California license plates 6WCU986.

Police believe DiMaggio has abducted Hannah Anderson, 16, and her 8-year-old brother Ethan.  Though authorities found the charred remains of a child's body in the burnt remain of their California home, they have not confirmed it is indeed Ethan.

USA Today reports authorities believe DiMaggio is traveling with homemade explosives, but cannot confirm if he has any weapons.  Authorities describe the alleged murderer as "desperate and dangerous."

"For all we know they could be hunkered down in the Cleveland National Forest camping or something and waiting until this blows over and then they're going to come out," Giannantonio told KNSD-TV.

Multiple reports state DiMaggio is an avid outdoorsman and may be hiding out at local campsites.

DiMaggio was a close family friend to the Andersons.  Brett Anderson, Anderson's husband and the children's father, pleaded with DiMaggio to return Hannah, according to USA Today.

"You've taken everything else," Brett told reporters Tuesday night outside of San Diego County Sheriff's Department headquarters.

Brett also told Hannah to run if she has the chance, and that she will be found.

Editor's Note: Reports officially state the DiMaggio's blue Nissan was found in rugged terrain of Idaho.  According to Los Angeles Times,  Hannah and DiMaggio were headed to Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness in Valley County. You can read the update here.
