A 31-year-old Miami man allegedly murdered his wife, posted a bloody photo of her dead body on his Facebook page, updated his status telling everyone what he had done, and then turned himself over to authorities.

"I'm going to prison or death sentence for killing my wife. Love you guys. Miss you guys. Take care. Facebook people you'll see me in the news. My wife was punching me and I am not going to stand anymore with the abuse, so I did what I did. I hope u understand me," Medina wrote in a Facebook post, but his page has since been taken down.

Derek Medina's social media posts went viral, and his alleged vile act is shocking the nation. Medina allegedly shot his wife, 26-year-old Jennifer Alfonso, and posted a photo of her bloodied body lying on their linoleum floor.

According to the Miami Herald, Medina went to the South Miami police station around noon on Thursday, where he confessed every detail about his alleged crime to authorities.

Medina's father, Derek Medina Sr., told reporters his son killed Alfonso only after she came out him with a knife, according to the Herald.

"Medina said he disarmed Alfonso, put the knife in the drawer, then shot her several times after she began punching and kicking him," the official report said.

However, a former coworker of Alfonso claims Medina was the aggressor in the relationship. Her former boss at a West Miami-Dade Denny's told the Herald that Medina was jealous and controlling.

"She would be bruised up," said Amada Cooper, who also added Medina tried to force her to quit her job as a server because "he didn't want her working nights."

Investigators received a search warrant, and made their way to the crime scene inside the couple's home.

Medina was charged with first-degree murder of Alfonso on Thursday.

His wife had a 10-year-old daughter from a previous relationship, and was upstairs at the time of the killing, the Herald reports. She was unharmed and officers escorted her out of the house.
