Back in March, 71-year-old folk legend Joni Mitchell had quite the health scare. She was in the hospital for weeks, and nobody was really sure why.

She was found unconscious in her Los Angeles home on March 31 and admitted to a nearby hospital. It turns out that Mitchell suffered a brain aneurysm, a source reveals to Billboard

After Mitchell was originally hospitalized, people were not sure if she had suffered a stroke or if she had possibly gone into a coma, but this all finally explains what had happened.

She is doing much better, but she is still improving.

"It's a long way to go, but she can do it," a friend told Showbiz 411. "Speech is difficult, but she's communicating."

Mitchell has been moved to a rehab center because her condition is considered "very serious."

Earlier this month, a Los Angeles Court appointed her longtime friend, Leslie Morris, conservator when it comes to making any medical decisions during her recovery, according to the New York Daily News. It is unclear what will happen now that Mitchell is responsive.
