North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un furiously ranted on terrapin farmers over their failure to breed lobsters, according to the country's state-run news agency.

The North Korean leader carried out an inspection in a terrapin farm located in Taedonggang, where he had observed "manifestation of incompetence, outmoded way of thinking and irresponsible work style," reported CNN.

"It is hard to understand that the farm visited by Kim Jong Il did not arrange even the room for education in revolutionary history," Kim said, according to the Korean Central Agency News.

He added that "the employees who failed to bear deep in their minds his leadership exploits could hardly perform their role as masters in production."

Terrapin is a small edible turtle usually found in North America.

Reports suggest that since the farm was a project of his late father, Kim Jong Il, the shortcomings the younger Kim saw during his industrial tour became personal.

Kim was very disappointed as the farm was built by his father to "provide the people with tasty and nutritious terrapin widely known as a precious tonic from olden times," according to Mirror.

Added to his displeasure is the upcoming lavish celebrations for the 70th anniversary of the Korean Worker's Party in which the terrapin farm is anticipated to supply lobsters.

Due to the sanctions imposed by the United Nations, North Korea is prohibited from importing luxury products, which may include freshwater lobsters. To deal with this problem, North Korea has to produce its own, CNN wrote.

Kim accused the farmers of not contributing to statewide efforts to supply needs to the party. The supreme leader said he could "hardly understand with what success the officials and employees of the farm would like to greet the October festival."

The controversial head of state had an ominous warning to farm workers: "They may bring such grave consequences as impairing the prestige of the party," Huffington Post reported.
