"Furious 7" wonderfully combined adrenaline pumping action with a sweet and sentimental sendoff for the late Paul Walker's character Brian O'Conner. While this would be a perfect note to end the franchise on in the eyes of many fans, we already know that we are getting more entries in the series and, according to Dwayne Johnson, we are also getting more of his character Hobbs.

"Of course. It can't go one without Hobbs," Johnson answered when asked if his character will be in the franchise's eighth film and beyond. Johnson was famously only added in the latter three sequels of the series in an attempt to inject some new life but has since become an integral part of the core group. In fact, his character has become so popular that there has even been talk of a spinoff.

"We all are interested in it," Johnson said. "I just had a big conversation with the studio. So we'll see. I still think for me personally we've created a little bit of space for him in 7 and the gauge is set for what the audience will want. That's my take on it, you know, but a lot of other people have input."

There is definitely room to explore Hobbs' backstory if Universal wanted to give him his own spinoff. Bounty hunter turned US Marshal is a very interesting turn with a lot of room for exciting action if a prequel was in mind.

"Furious 8" is set for an April 14, 2017 release.
