It's time! By now "Vampire Diaries" fans are aware that tonight's episode will be Nina Dobrev's last.

The actress, who plays leading lady Elena Gilbert, announced in April that she was leaving the series after six seasons on the hit CW show. As fans get ready to cope with the loss of a series regular, its hard not to question what will happen at the end of tonight's episode.

Last week, Elena was left battling for her life, which leaves her fate unanswered on the show.

So, the main question at this moment is will producers will kill Elena Gilbert?

"Well, I don't know how to answer that without either hinting a yes or hinting a no," executive producer Julie Plec told E! News. "I'll just say that we're very happy with the choice we made about how to handle her character's departure. We'll see if everyone agrees. We always knew how [Elena] was going to go, but we just didn't know at what point. We were still talking about whether we'd be able to move that into season seven or not. We definitely knew the ending."

Cast member Michael Trevino, who played Tyler, revealed that tonight's episode will be a permanent ending for both Dobrev's character. Was this a hint?

"It's an end note for sure," he said of Dobrev's departure. "It's a big period at the end of the sentence. It's beautiful. As we know, Nina Dobrev is leaving our show so we put a stamp of an ending there for our beloved Elena."

Trevino, who is also leaving the series after tonight's finale, went on to say, "They did a beautiful job with her send off. I wouldn't necessarily call it a cliffhanger, but it definitely is a, 'where do we go from here?' You're going to be asking yourself, what is season seven going to be about? It's mysterious in a way."
